It sounds as if you’ve tried hard to help him and you’ve told him how you feel but, as is the case with all addicts, he needs to take responsibility for his addiction and be his own saviour. You can’t save him.

I think you’re right when you say that cutting all ties is the only way to make the move. Sadly, while he still has a cocaine habit and one that you’ve been tempted to join in with, I don’t think you can be friends. There would always be the possibility of falling into that trap again.

I’d say listen to your inner voice. You might not be able to get through to him, but you can save yourself.
