He said: “I’m confident in my own ability that I’m going to win a world title. “I’ll have a few weeks off and I’d like to go for a European title first then see what’s happening. I’d love to fight for the Lonsdale belt – it’s one of the most prestigious belts in the world. I’d love to get my hands on that eventually but I’ll leave it to Barry McGuigan and what he thinks is the best route.”

Manager McGuigan believes the British title would be a “step back” with a world showdown – potentially with Sergey Lipinets – targeted before the end of 2018.
