McGuigan hails spirit of Stenny
MARK McGUIGAN praised Stenhousemuir’s character after a massive win in the promotion race.
He hit a double in a 3-2 win at Peterhead to lop two points off the advantage enjoyed by top two Stirling and Montrose.
McGuigan said: “To get a couple of goals is always nice but the main thing was to get the win.
“The players showed a bit of character to answer the questions Peterhead posed.”
McGuigan headed the opener in 13 minutes before Jack Leitch equalised in the 53rd minute for Peterhead.
Mick Dunlop restored the lead with a header but Jason Brown nodded in for 2-2.
McGuigan, however, won and scored a decisive penalty after a clumsy challenge from David McCracken.
