Top scientists warn planet’s future is grave
SOME of the world’s leading scientists have issued their second grim warning about the future of mankind – 25 years after their first call for change.
They are urging people to eat less meat, have fewer kids, consume less and use green energy to save the planet.
In 1992, a majority of the world’s living Nobel laureates signed a letter saying human impact on the natural world was likely to lead to a planet that was “irretrievably mutilated”.
In the second warning letter in journal BioScience, more than 15,000 scientists from 184 countries warn humans have “unleashed a mass extinction event” and that many life forms could be annihilated by the end of this century.
They add: “Soon it will be too late to shift course away from our failing trajectory.”
