Nosedive to avoid disaster

-

A PILOT had to nosedive his plane when he spotted an RAF jet hurtling towards him at 400mph.

The passenger aircraft missed the Typhoon jet by just 250ft as it flew over Wick in Caithness in June.

A report by the UK Airprox Board – who graded the incident category B, the second most serious – said “both captain and first officer were somewhat unsettled by this event”.

The investigation found the RAF jet’s transponder was not working.
