QUEEN OF THE SOUTH were denied the chance to field a fourth substitute at the start of extra-time in Sunday’s Irn Bru Cup defeat to The New Saints because the fourth official didn’t know the rules.

Eventually Chris Kane came on for the second half of the extra period as Queens lost on penalties.

Boss Gary Naysmith said: “It’s not right – officials should know the rules.”
