Sviatchenko: I’m back and ready togo
ERIK SVIATCHENKO insists his four-month injury nightmare is finally over.
And the Danish star is thrilled to be back for the Champions League matches against PSG and Anderlecht as well as the Betfred Cup Final against Motherwell after an arduous spell on the sidelines.
Sviatchenko has been out since sustaining a knee-ligament injury in the Euro qualifier against Rosenborg in July.
However, after a lengthy rehabilitation, the Danish defender believes he’s on the verge of a comeback ahead of Saturday’s Premiership clash with Ross County in Dingwall.
Sviatchenko is now able to eye big games such as the double Euro date and the Hampden showpiece. He said: “I don’t want to jinx anything but we are aiming to get me fit for games as soon as possible.
“This international break was convenient for me in that I got some good sessions and then a break going towards the games.
“Those two European games are critical. We have put ourselves in a good position but the job isn’t fully done.
“These games will be decisive and I really hope to play a part. I played all six group games last season and it was an amazing experience, so I hope I can be available for those two games.
“I’m feeling better. Every day is an improvement for getting back on to the pitch.
“I’ve trained well and feel I’m getting my fitness up.
“Now I’m aiming to get back as soon as possible.”
