1984: Begins career with Coleraine. 1987: Signs for Newcastle in a £100,000 deal. 1988: Plays first senior game for Northern Ireland. 1989: Moves to Dundee United in a club record £350,000 transfer. 1993: Joins Hibs. 1996: Moves to Coventry. 1998: Loaned out to Reading and Aberdeen, joins Wigan. Wins a Football League Trophy. 2000: Spell at St Johnstone before joining Portland Timbers. 2001: Joins Clydebank. 2002: Moves back to Belfast with Glentoran. Won two Irish titles and two Irish Cups. 2004: Joins Ayr United. 2006: Appointed into first manager’s job at Brechin.
2008: Joins Irish outfit Shamrock Rovers. Leads the club to Europa League group stage and wins two titles.
2011: Becomes manager of Northern Ireland. Reaches the Euros in 2016.
