Dung-ho official causes cow pat spat
A footbAll official is in deep doo-doo – after sending a box of cow dung to players from a rival team.
Stewart Keith, a former committee member of Peebles Rovers, sent the package following a row with two players from fife side Kelty Hearts last month.
Neil Hobson, a spokesman for the borders outfit, confirmed Keith had sent the box, which contained nails as well as the cow pat.
He said: “there was an incident at the Kelty match where he got into a spat with two of the players but I can’t tell you any more.”
Malcolm McGill, Peebles Rovers’ match secretary, also confirmed the incident, saying: “Someone from Kelty phoned me and knew it was Stewart. So he maybe put his name to it.”
Keith, who resigned from the club two weeks ago, said: “It’s a private matter. It has nothing to do with my resignation.”
Kelty refused to comment.
