tHE billionaire owner of Grangemouth oil refinery has bought Swiss football club lausanne.

Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos have snapped up the side for an undisclosed multi-million pound sum because it is close to their offices in the European tax haven.

the controversial tycoon threatened to close down Grangemouth permanently in 2013 after getting into a dispute with union bosses over pay and conditions.

And there are fears he may try to sue the Scottish Government over their decision to ban fracking.

the sale of fC lausanne Sport was confirmed at a media conference on Monday afternoon.

David thompson, chief executive of Ineos football SA, said: “Ineos are excited about taking this major step into top-class football as part of our wider commitment to encourage youth sport in lausanne and Canton Vaud.”
