CELTIC striker Leigh Griffiths gave a young fan his best day ever when he turned up at his birthday party.

The striker, fresh from his matchwinning goal when his side beat Ross County in Dingwall, dropped in on the party to meet Luca and friends.

Leigh had been invited through Twitter by Gemma Love, a friend of Luca’s family.

Following the tweet and an online discussion with the youngster’s dad, the striker agreed to attend the birthday bash.

And he was as good as his word when he turned up at the party yesterday afternoon.

Glaswegian Gemma’s “So ye coming or wit?” campaign started when she sent a message to the Celtic and Scotland hero last month, saying: “One of my best pal’s wee boy’s birthday, all he wants is for @Leighgriff09 to show up at his party. Fancy giving him a shout?”

Other fans took to tweeting the striker asking for him to attend other events including one fan who cheekily asked him to attend the birth of his child.

Gemma again took to Twitter following the party to post a picture of Luca with the Celtic star, who had helped extend his club’s British unbeaten domestic record to 64 games the previous day.

She tweeted: “Guy really is a class act. Stuck to his word after our Twitter campaign to get him to Luca’s birthday party.”

Leigh, who will be flying out along with the rest of the Celtic squad as they prepare to take on Paris Saint-Germain in their Champions League clash on Wednesday, took the time to pose for photos with other children at the party, which took place at an indoor football venue.

Nikki Coney also tweeted her thanks to Gemma and the Celtic forward: “Thanks so much for making his birthday one to remember. How do I top this next year?”
