HIGGO: ROCKET CAN BE ONE IN A MILLION

-

JOHN HIGGINS insists Ronnie O’Sullivan can become the first player to land the £1million bonus for winning the Home Nations series.

The Rocket will pocket the huge windfall if he can add the Northern Ireland, Scottish and Welsh titles to last month’s English Open triumph.

Higgins, who kicks off his Northern Ireland bid tomorrow, reckons in-form O’Sullivan can complete a stuning clean sweep.

He said: “If there’s anyone who starts his £70,000 challenge tomorrow.

Young gun Ross Muir is the only Scot in action on the opening day today. SKATING: Elise Christie admits overcoming injury to win her first World Cup short track speed skating title of the season in the 500m in Seoul is a huge boost.

The Scot battled back from a testing few weeks to scoop gold in 43.27 seconds ahead of home favourite Choi Min Jeong.

She said: “It’s nice to know when I’m not at my best I can still win. It’s a really nice boost.” BASKETBALL: Glasgow Rocks coach Tony Garbelotto admits he’s “embarrassed” by their 104-85 BBL defeat by Surrey Scorchers.

Rocks suffered an early blow when new boy Mikey Thompson was injured in the warm-up before they were stunned by their rivals’ 32-7 run at the Emirates.

Coach Garbelotto said: “I’m embarrassed. In the third quarter our play wasn’t acceptable. It wasn’t pretty.”
