Get a head of game to beat stress before rush

-

WITH the party season almost upon us, we are looking ahead to weeks of festivities, shopping trips and stress.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year – and the most exhausting.

The best way to prepare for Christmas and New Year is to treat yourself to some pampering.

I decided to do just that and popped along to Revival Retreat in Glasgow, who are offering a new range of holistic therapies including reflexology, Indian head massage and reiki.

I arrived on a cold, wet morning and was ushered into a warm, candlelit room. After discussions with the therapist, we decided the Indian head massage was best for my needs and I settled down on the heated bed which instantly relaxed me.

The treatment started with acupressure massage on my back shoulders and arms. Working at a desk all day, this is a particularly tense area for me. As she gently massaged the warm oil over the knots, I could feel the tension drain from me.

Next, she moved on to my neck and head. Massaging points on the head can reduce blockages that cause headaches. It can also improve circulation which can help improve the texture of your hair and and encourage it to grow faster.

Once she had finished, I turned over and she gently massaged my face while, again, working on pressure points which help to de-stress, clear sinuses and boost energy levels.

I was told it promotes better sleep and she wasn’t kidding. She had to wake me up after 20 minutes as I’d drifted off to sleep during the treatment.

Afterwards, I can say that I felt fantastic and my skin looked refreshed and glowing.

After a drink of water and some fruit, I headed off into the town re-energised and with a spring in my step and definitely ready to hunt down that all-important glitzy party outfit. ● www.revivalretreat.co.uk
