WAG REVEALS SHE

- PAUL BYRNE reporters@dailyrecord.co.uk

EXACTLY 12 weeks after Wayne Rooney was arrested for being drunk at the wheel of a party girl’s car, his wife Coleen has vowed to give their marriage another chance – despite the turmoil she and her children have suffered.

She said Wayne had been “silly and selfish” but declared: “Do I love Wayne? Yes I do. If I didn’t then I wouldn’t be trying to make it work.”

Coleen, 31, added: “I know I’d be fine on my own, with just me and my children, but I don’t want to live like that. I want to try to continue our marriage and live as a family.”

She made it clear there is a long way to go before her relationship with her childhood sweetheart is back on solid ground, adding: “I’m not saying everything is fine and forgotten about but we are as good as we can be. I’m not the type of person to put a show on and say we’re all loved-up. I’m just real.”

Everton striker Wayne, 32, was arrested in September as he enjoyed a night out with pals while pregnant Coleen was on holiday in Majorca with sons, Kai, eight, Klay, four, and Kit, who’ll be two in January.

He was banned from the road for two years after admitting driving at three times the legal limit in Laura Simpson’s VW Beetle after the night out in Wilmslow, Cheshire.

Coleen made it clear she does not approve of her husband’s boozy nights out and it appears he may well be grounded for the forseeable future. But she said: “Wayne doesn’t get portrayed for the person he is in the Press. He has always had a hard time.

“I’m not going to list his good qualities as I don’t think he deserves it at this time but he is a brilliant dad.

“He’s made silly and selfish mistakes, some he’s learnt from, some obviously not. However, maybe that will change?

“You don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow. But one thing I do know is that too much alcohol on a night out is dangerous and a lot of stupid mistakes are made and things are said under the influence.”

Wayne, who was seen buying coffees in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, yesterday, got a 100-hour community service order and has been working in a garden centre to pay his debt to society.

Coleen flew back to the UK after his arrest and, after a tearful confrontation, removed her wedding ring.

Since then, despite living at their £6.7million family home in Prestbury, Cheshire, she has not been seen with the £250,000 gold band.

Yesterday, she said it was time to slip it on her finger once more. On her Facebook page, Coleen said: “Before all the stories begin, Yes, I have put my wedding ring on. A lot of people will be saying, ‘ You don’t have to explain yourself.’ I know I don’t, but I am and I want to. It didn’t feel right wearing my ring. I see it as a sign of commitment and I was unsure what was happening.”

Coleen said she is not looking for pity, adding: “A few people have been feeling sorry for me, please don’t. I appreciate getting cared about,

I’m not the type of person to put a show on and say we’re all loved up COLEEN ROONEY
