Cops probe double gun attack

TWO gangland-style shootings are being probed to see if they are linked.

A gunman opened fire at a car on Langmuirhead Road, near Robyroyston, Glasgow, at 8.50pm on Thursday in an incident being treated as attempted murder.

Three hours later, the kitchen window of a flat on Kenley Road, Renfrew, was blasted twice in an apparent underworld hit.

Neither of the intended targets was injured in the shootings, which took place 13 miles apart.

Police last night said the incidents were not being linked “at this time” but the Record understands officers are probing possible connections.

Skid marks from a car could be seen on grass outside the flat on Kenley Road, near Braehead Shopping Centre. Forensic teams carried out a fingertip search, while uniformed officers cordoned off the street.

Resident Andy Brown, 28, said: “It’s bad what happened. I am shocked. This kind of thing never happens round here.”

A Braehead worker told of seeing police converging on the quiet residential street.

He said: “This is really shocking as I have never seen this before. It was unexpected, especially as I was heading into work.”

Police said extensive inquiries were continuing, adding: “This address was the intended target.”

On the Robroyston shooting, they added: “A firearm was discharged at a car in Langmuirhead Road. The 33-year-old driver was uninjured as a result of this incident.”

Anyone with information on either incident has been asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 3487 for the Langmuirhead Road shooting and 4029 for Renfrew.
