RAKISH BINGHAM wants to repay Hamilton boss Martin Canning’s faith in him after signing a new deal until 2019.

The former Wigan and Mansfield striker, 24, had grown used to spending just a season at clubs but is finally putting down roots in North Lanarkshire.

Bingham now hopes the added security will help him flourish with Accies so he can pay them back for their backing over the next two years.

He said: “I’m over the moon. It’s nice to know that a club of this stature has faith in you and wants to keep you.

“I just want to repay that faith now. This is probably the longest deal I have been offered and it provides security for me. I can now focus on my football. There is a different kind of feeling here. It is a real family club. I settled the moment I came here.

“There have been lots of different things that have made Hamilton feel this way for me – from the gaffer to training.

“You cannot pick one bad egg in our changing room. Everyone gets along really well and that helps you settle in really easily. Accies have been the best to date.”

Bingham’s ready to show what he’s made of against Hibs today after being boosted by moving up to eighth place with Accies’ historic win at Rangers.

He said: “We know we’re a good side and are now getting results. People think we’re underdogs but that only spurs you on to fight.”
