WE LET YOU DOWN AGAIN

-

From Back Page soon, with Rangers looking increasingly ruddlerless on the field and off it.

Mark O’Hara scored a double either side of a Josh Windass equaliser and insult was added to injury when Scott Allan, the on-loan Celt, snatched a crucial assist at the winner.

Murty said: “I’d like to say thanks to our fans for coming out in their thousands on a bitter cold night. We’re sorry we couldn’t do a better job.

“We had some good opportunities in the first half but we conceded two really poor goals. That is not a slight on the defence but all of us, me included.

“We didn’t defend our goal well enough and when you do that against any team you’re not going to win the game.

“The managerial situation needs to be got right and days like this don’t help the players or myself. We need the right man and that will happen whenever the board sees fit.

“But the players and myself have added fuel to the fire with that performance. We’ve come away with nothing when we could have won.

“It’s not an ideal situation. If it was ideal, I wouldn’t be here talking but we have to deal with the situation as it is. The players gave good effort but they need to look at themselves in the mirror and decide what they can do better to get this club rolling again. “That result isn’t acceptable. The last two results aren’t acceptable for this club.

“I told the players this is Rangers Football Club and we need to be winning these games.

“No disrespect to our opponents but if we are serious about getting back to the top of Scottish football we need to be winning these matches.

“That is not good enough, that is not what we want to be, not where we want to be. We need to get better.”

Rangers now face a crucial double-header with Aberdeen, in between an agm that is now threatening to become heated.

Murty added: “They look like a group that need to lift the fans that turn up at Ibrox on Wednesday for a massive game against Aberdeen.

“They need to be ready to put on a show and a performance. That is their challenge now.

“There is no point in me wasting energy thinking if a new manager is going to be in or not. He will either be in or won’t”

Dundee No.2 Graham Gartland said: “They started well and were on the front foot. But once we saw off that early pressure we grew into the game.

“We got momentum playing down the hill in the second half and our two goals were excellent.”
