JER’S GIRL POWER

- GARRY OWEN racing@dailyrecord.co.uk

IRISH raider JER’S GIRL (2.00) looks a warm order in the OLGB Mares’ Hurdle at Kempton.

Gavin Cromwell’s five-year-old was a dual Grade One winner as a novice – and put in her best effort for a while when second to Apple’s Jade in a Navan Grade 2 last time.

That is the best form on offer in a strong contest and she has been found a nice opportunity to resume winning ways by her shrewd connections. Nicky Henderson’s BURROWS EDGE (12.50) will take all the beating in the novice hurdle.

The four-year-old was a good second to the promising Tidal Flow in a hot Newbury bumper and looks another exciting timber prospect for the champion trainer.

PLAY THE ACE (2.30) can continue his winning streak in the Racing UK Handicap Chase.

Peter Bowen’s gelding improved again when bolting up at Wincanton last time and can complete his hat-trick despite a 7lb penalty.

GOOD MAN PAT (3.05) can deliver the goods in the staying handicap hurdle.

Alan King’s gelding kept on well for second behind the promising Lindenhall over 2m 6f at Stratford.

And the four-year-old can open his account over timber upped to three miles.

Samcro (1-4 fav) continued his rise to the top with a high-class victory in the Monksfield Novice Hurdle at Navan. Gordon Elliott’s five-year-old jumped and travelled strongly during the Grade 3 and cruised home 12 lengths clear of Jetz (6-1) under Jack Kennedy.

The gelding is now as short as 11-4 in places for the Ballymore at Cheltenham in March.

And Bristol De Mai is thriving after his demolition job in Saturday’s Betfair Chase at Haydock.

Nigel Twiston-Davies’s rising star will now bid for more toplevel glory in the King George at Kempton on Boxing Day. Philip Hobbs remains baffled by Defi Du Seuil’s flop in the Ascot Hurdle on Saturday.

The four-year-old is sound after losing his unbeaten record in the Grade 2 but the handler will monitor his progress before making any future plans.

Nakeeta is enjoying a welldeserved break after his recent Melbourne Cup heroics.

The gelding is in good shape and trainer Iain Jardine is considering another raid on the Flemington showpiece next year.
