Salesman wins 13-year hol pay bid
A SALESMAN has won the backing of an EU court in a claim for 13 years’ unpaid holidays.
Conley King had a “selfemployed commission-only” contract with The Sash Window Workshop and only ever took unpaid leave.
But the Court of Justice ruled he was entitled to be reimbursed. Conley was seeking £27,000 for his work between 1999 and 2002.
The case went to the appeal court after an employment tribunal ruled he was entitled to payment.
And the EU court said yesterday: “An employer who does not allow a worker to exercise his right to paid annual leave must bear the consequences.” A DRIVER claims she had a lucky escape when her tyre blew out after hitting a snag on the Queensferry Crossing.
Charline Smith believes her puncture was caused by an issue with the £1.35billion bridge’s expansion joints, which will lead to its partial closure from today.
Transport Scotland confirmed on Monday that the “snagging” works are being carried out to make sure traffic can travel at the 70mph speed limit by the end of December.
The plans were announced just two days after the Record revealed repairs had been carried out on the structure’s wind barriers, less than three months after it opened.
Charline, a mum of three from Dunfermline, was left with a £100
