RANGERS have appealed Ryan Jack’s red card against former club Aberdeen as he faces a three-game ban.

The midfielder was sent off in the second half of the Light Blues’ 2-1 win for a tackle on Stevie May which later forced the Dons man off.

It was the 25-year-old’s first game back at Pittodrie for his new club since swapping the Reds for the Light Blues in the summer.

It was his fourth red card of the season equalling the record for sending-offs in a season set by Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos.

However, two of Jack’s dismissals – against Hibs and Kilmarnock – have been overturned on appeal and the club will fight this one too.

If the appeal fails he will miss this month’s games with Ross County, Hibs and St Johnstone.

Jack faces an extra game on top of the automatic two-match suspension for serious foul play as it will be his second ban of the campaign.

He caught May with his studs after winning the ball in a challenge.

Former top referee Charlie Richmond said it was worthy of a red card and reckons Willie Collum was left with no choice, saying: “It’s a red card every day of the week.

“Jack went to play the ball, carried on and ran into May knowing full well what he was going to do. He looked to go in and win the ball and then go through the player.”
