Jumping intu a big world of fun at Soar

- LEAH McCOSHAN, AGED 8

SOAR at intu Braehead is the best place in the world.

Well, perhaps Disneyland is nearly as good but Soar is definitely one of my favourite places. The centre has just been given a brand new makeover. So, as a Daily Record cub reporter, I went along to test the facilities.

Wow! As we walked in, I noticed that the place has been given a brand new look. It is now ultra-modern with a new layout, new trampoline park, chocolate factory and an events area to enjoy.

As it’s getting near the time of year when Santa visits, the events area had been transformed into a winter wonderland – which even had snow on my visit. It looked amazing.

As an intrepid reporter, I found out from kind members of staff that there will be even more new features including a big digital screen that will be positioned

Xxxx weeks to show off all the great attractions inside.

There will also be new lighting and decor changes. I can’t wait to see the new “space trees” that will be positioned in the lower mall, sitting underneath a ceiling of stars and a light box wall which show all of the constellations in space.

I was dying to get to my first stop – the Cocoa Bean Company, where I got to make chocolates in a kids workshop.

Workshops are suitable for children from two up to 18 years old – there are even workshops for the grown-ups. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is one of my fave stories and I have always wanted to visit a place like it, so Cocoa Bean was my choctastic dream. With my bag of goodies, we went downstairs to my next stop – Gravity.

It’s a trampoline park and it’s massive. There are big ones, small ones, a soft play area, a cafe and a viewing area. I was head over heels about the place.

Everyone has to watch a safety briefing video so accidents don’t happen and do a warm-up before jumping.

There are loads of marshals around to make sure you stay safe. I looked at their fancy website later and it said that there were loads of different sessions – Open Jump, Parent and Toddler and Specialised Disability Sessions, as well as *Additional reporting by Stephen Stewart fitness classes called Trampolean. By the end of our play session, it was lunchtime. We went to TGI Fridays where I had mozzarella dippers and cheesy tomato pasta.

It was great and the staff were very friendly.

Then we were off to Tenpin for more fun. Mark, the manager, showed us how to use the iPad-style screen next to our lane. You can take your picture, put your name in to the system and personalise your bowling game.

I really enjoyed it. There are loads of bowling lanes and you can get food and drinks too.

It is even open late so the oldies can have a shot at bowling and get a drink from the licensed bar.

There is so much to do at Soar at intu Braehead that I’d never get bored.

In the next few months, there are plans to improve Soar’s Climbzone area with a giant slide.

I can’t wait!
