STIRLING ALBION v COWDENBEATH

GARY BOLLAN believes Cowdenbeath can trigger a reversal of fortune and move clear of the drop zone by using his old club Airdrie as their inspiration.

The Central Park boss took over the Diamonds four years ago with them adrift at the foot of League One – then almost guided them to a play-off spot.

Bollan arrived at the Blue Brazil last month and is already starting to see an improvement ahead of today game at high-flying Stirling.

He said: “We have had back-to-back draws which suggests things are getting better.

“There is a togetherness which has impressed me. There is a lot of work to be done but we see encouraging signs.

“I look at it as much the same as when I arrived at Airdrie.

“We were nine points adrift but got a 21-point turnaround and Arbroath were relegated.

“In fact we just missed out on a play-off place so it shows what can be achieved. There is one aim this season and that is to finish ninth.”

Stirling sit in third spot, two points behind leaders Peterhead after Tuesday 1-0 home defeat by the pacesetters.

Binos striker Peter McDonald said: “Any defeat is disappointing but in midweek it was a chance missed. However, the focus is now on making sure we bounce back.”
