Goalie Craig Hooping for capital gain
CRAIG GORDON admits Easter Road hasn’t been a happy hunting ground over the years but he’s determined to avoid further capital punishment tomorrow.
The ex-Hearts man managed just two wins in nine trips to Leith with the Jambos but is targeting maximum points with the Hoops.
The Scotland No.1 said: “I didn’t get too many wins there – a few draws and just one win.
“My favourite memory might be 2-2 draw and I had a save from a Rob Jones header to my left-hand side to keep it level. Hearts and Hibs games were always great to play in.
“Both stadiums are a lot bigger since I played as the clubs have expanded their main stands so it is going to be a good atmosphere.
“Wherever Celtic go they lift the home crowd. I’m sure it will be a good atmosphere and game.”
Gordon reckons Hibs are in with a shout of being the best of the rest this term after Neil Lennon’s side came close to ending the unbeaten run at Parkhead in September.
The shot stopper made a stunning save to safeguard a point and will be on alert this weekend.
He said: “We weren’t at our best but found a way to keep the run going. If Hibs find the consistency to play at their best regularly then they would have a chance.
“They have quality players, especially up front. They’re one of the better teams to watch because they field a lot of attacking players. We’ll need to be on our game and wary of their danger men.”
