HONEY’S TOO SWEET

- GARRY OWEN racing@dailyrecord.co.uk

COEUR TANTRE (3.15) can strike for Anthony Honeyball as Jump racing makes a welcome return at Taunton.

A useful hurdler, the six year old caught the eye when a good second to the promising Drumcliff on his fencing bow at Wincanton last time.

The gelding is on a workable mark for his first try at open company and can get the better of some more experienced rivals under Aidan Coleman.

BRAHMS DE CLERMONT (12.0) can take another step forward in the novices’ hurdle.

Paul Nicholls’s gelding is yet to produce a bad run over timber and can give weight away all round after bolting up over course and distance last month.

Team Ditcheat can then double up in the novices’ chase with SILENT STEPS (1.05).

The six-year-old showed some respectable form during her hurdling career and this ex-winning pointer looks the type to thrive over fences. Nicky Henderson meanwhile can claim the staying novices’ hurdle with KINGS RYDE (12.30).

The five-year-old was doing all his best work late when runner-up to Sky Pirate over 2m 4f at Worcester and can go one better upped in trip.

The Seven Barrows man can also come out on top in the Grade Two Peterborough Chase with TOP NOTCH (2.45).

The bold jumping gelding was a Grade One winner last season and looked better than ever when hacking up in the 1965 Chase on his return at Ascot. Clearly still progressing, the six-year-old can easily follow up today en route to bigger and better things.

TOBACCO ROAD (1.35) can smoke them out in the Dave Criddle Handicap Hurdle.

David Pipe’s gelding cruised to victory over course and distance last month and there should be plenty more to come.

THE WELSH PADDIES (2.10) rates a value bet in a competitive 2m 3f hurdle. Christian Williams’s gelding beat the classy Jabulani in a Warwick maiden in October and looks the type to do plenty of damage in handicaps.

And CHEQUE EN BLANC (3.50) can pay for a few rounds when he lands the lucky last.

Gary Moore’s five-year-old has been running with credit over shorter this season and can gain a well-deserved success back over three miles.

■ Musselburgh will stage an additional fixture on Monday after the cold snap led to a number of Jump fixtures in the north being called off.
