IAIN VIGURS reckons if Inverness team-mate Jake Mulraney starts to believe in himself then he will reach the top.

Hearts have been granted permission to take the 21-year-old Irishman in for training with a view to signing him next month.

And Vigurs, who has played in the same midfield as the Republic of Ireland Under 21 cap for over a year, said: “We’ve seen Jake at his best this season. He’s got pace to terrify most defences. When he’s on form no one can stop him.

“If he does go to Hearts that’s what you want – to see boys progress to play at the highest level and to the best of their ability.

“If Jake is playing to the best of his ability he shouldn’t be anywhere near this team or this league.

“It’s just a mindset with him and it lies in his own hands to improve on certain aspects of his game. He works hard in training and always wants to get better.

“Selfishly we would like to keep him until the end of the season but if it does happen I would love to see him get a move and kick on in his career. I’d be happy for him because he’s a nice lad.

“He’s a cracking player with great feet and terrific pace. In the modern game you need that. He has it all ahead of him but it’s up to him to make it happen.

“I’ve said to him many times that if he plays like he knows he can, and like I know he can, Jake can play in any league he wants.”
