Care crisis

THE crisis facing care homes in Scotland is down to the underfunding of the social sector.

It’s estimated £1billion is required – but the chances of the SNP Government making the funding available is virtually zilch.

Families in care homes facing closure will be left in the dark as to where their loved ones will end up.

It makes a mockery of freezing the council tax for so long and giving out free prescriptions, bus passes and university education. Hamish Leishman, Kilsyth, Lanarkshire

Lotto losers

NATIONAL Lottery cash for good causes has fallen 15 per cent, which surely must be a wake-up call to Camelot.

They have tried to take those who buy lottery tickets for mugs but they did not adjust their sights when they adjusted the amount of balls in the main draw.

Adding 10 balls to the original 49 was a big mistake as it greatly increased the odds of winning anything.

Camelot should get the draw back to 49 balls and give us all a better chance – otherwise people are going to stop playing and many needy causes will lose out.

Pet cause

WHAT grand news that a pet food bank has opened in the north-east. It will really help those struggling to feed their animals in an area that has been hit hard by the oil downturn. June Fleming, Musselburgh, East Lothian
