PRIVATE SHOWDOWN

KEZIA Dugdale re-entered the political jungle yesterday – and walked straight into scenes of chaos.

In a bizarre move, Scottish Labour bosses gagged the former party leader hours after she touched down at Glasgow airport.

Dugdale, flanked by handlers, dodged reporters and TV crews at Holyrood after slipping in and out to vote.

Earlier, she had been ordered into a meeting with new Labour boss Richard Leonard.

He warned her about the “unauthorised absence” but stopped short of suspending her.

Dugdale stunned colleagues by ditching her day job to take part in I’m a Celebrity. She was in Australia for three weeks, although she was second to be voted off the ITV show.

Labour’s decision to gag Dugdale in Parliament came after she’d spoken to reporters at the airport.

The Lothian MSP said it was “good to be back”.

She also admitted she has “a bit of work to do to make amends”.

In a statement issued afterwards, Labour business manager James Kelly said the party are trying to focus on today’s budget.

It contained a scripted quote from Dugdale about her I’m a Celebrity stint. It said: “I deeply regret that this caused issues in the first weeks of Richard Leonard’s leadership.”
