Scott’s great Scot
Former world champion’s latest artwork behind bars
THIS striking portrait of Sir Billy Connolly was created behind bars by another famous Scot – two-time world champion Scott Harrison.
The boxer, 40, has immersed himself in painting while serving four years in Shotts Prison in Lanarkshire for assault.
Harrison’s partner Stacey said yesterday: “Scott has always admired Billy Connolly and thinks the world of his humour.
“I think it’s a really good likeness and the boxing gloves round his neck are Scott’s way of signing it.
“This painting shows Scott is now in a good place and looking forward to his release next year.
“He is spending his time keeping his head down and getting on with things.”
Harrison was refused parole earlier this year and the Record revealed he had a fractious relationship with some staff at the maximum security jail.
But Stacey said: “That is all behind him now.
“He is punching the bag three times a day. He’s in really good shape and is 100 per cent committed to getting back into boxing.
“Scott’s release date should be about July.”
She said Christmas would be hard for her and the couple’s four children – Scott junior, 15, Maria, 11, Jack, eight, and Brandon, three – but added: “At least we know that this will be the last Christmas without him.”
Harrison was jailed for attacking three men in Spain in 2007.
