WHAT THE FOLK?

Musician’s outrage after ticket site redirect fans to tout sellers for gig

FOLK star Gerry Cinnamon has slammed ticket touts after seeing the price of his Scottish gigs ramped up.

The Glasgow singer – famous for his pro-Scottish independence songs – took to Twitter to deride the Ticketmaster website.

He said: “Tickets sold out in less than a minute. Ticketmaster links now taking you to a tout site.

“F*** the touts and f*** this website. I’m gny book a tour soon.

“Don’t buy from these gimps. Cheers gx”

Cinnamon is set to perform two nights at the Barrowland in Glasgow this weekend.

The Ticketmaster website lists the event as being sold out but Cinnamon claims he was redirected to a secondary site with higher prices.

The Daily Record has been campaigning for more than a year against touts and touting websites who appear to work hand in hand with huge companies like Ticketmaster. We have exposed tout sites who use technology to hoover up huge numbers of tickets, then sell them at a massive mark-up.

We’ve called for existing laws to be enforced and new laws to be introduced.

Record reporter Mark McGivern gave evidence of our findings to a House of Commons select committee earlier this year. Former Runrig star turned MP Pete Wishart recently demanded action against touts after the band’s farewell concerts were targeted.

Touting websites are facing a crackdown by watchdogs following our exclusive reports highlighting how real fans are being left out of pocket.

The Competition and Markets Authority have ordered reselling sites to come clean to buyers about whether they could be barred from gigs because tickets have been wrongly resold.
