He’s a really good player, a natural finisher and his workrate’s second to none. We’re a selling club and this move for him shows if you’re doing well for Motherwell other teams will look at you.”

Well’s recent dip has seen them drop to seventh but Grimshaw is adamant results haven’t been a reflection on performanc­es.

He said: “When you’re losing games it’s always difficult but I think we’ve been playing quite well.

“We should have definitely got something out of the last three games but we haven’t managed to do so. Maybe it’s just a bit of luck that we need to fall our way. We’ve made some mistakes during this run and there’s no doubt that’s cost us.

“But I don’t think anyone is worried because in terms of performanc­e I don’t think it’s been too bad. It’s all about results though and we’re looking to put that right at the weekend.”

The need to get back to winning ways isn’t lost on Grimshaw. He said: “At this stage it’s all about getting the win and the three points.

“Sometimes you play badly and end up winning 1-0. Other times you play well and get nothing from the game.

“We just want to win and end the year on a high.”
