Greg leaves Ibrox stint in his rear-view mirror

- EUAN McLEAN

AS a kid on Rangers’ books Greg Taylor carpooled with Adam Frizzell and Lewis Morgan.

Three wee guys with big ambitions that ultimately led them away from Ibrox to have any chance of making a go of their careers.

Whether the Ibrox youth coaches who freed them studied at the Gordon Strachan school of genetics the 20-year-old doesn’t know.

But today he’ll stand tall against his old club as part of a Kilmarnock side growing in stature under gaffer Steve Clarke.

And he’s happy to see Killie team-mate Frizzell and Morgan – starring for St Mirren and reportedly on the verge of a move to Celtic – living up to their potential too.

Taylor said: “It is good to see where the three of us are. Every player has aspirations to reach the very top of the game and we’re no different.

“It is good because we were all local boys from the same area – Inverclyde – and we’ve come through it all together, good and bad. That happens a lot in football – you are not going to get all highs, there are definitely low lows as well.

“That was just unfortunate the way it worked out at Rangers but hopefully now we are all kicking on and who knows in the future maybe winning moves again.

“I don’t know what it is about Scotland but everyone seems to be obsessed with height.

“We might have a few smaller boys in the game but we handle ourselves well out on the pitch.

“We are playing week in, week out so it doesn’t seem to be holding any of us back does it?”
