ACCIES CAN KEEP CALM

-

RAKISH BINGHAM insists Hamilton aren’t a bunch of hotheads despite admitting he had to stop Georgios Sarris from losing the plot on Saturday.

That came just a week after fellow Greek Ioannis Skondras got a straight red for his bust-up with Ross County that could see him hammered by the SFA.

Accies team-mates took turns to calm Sarris down after he was involved in a late flashpoint with Miles Storey in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Partick Thistle.

Sarris was shown a yellow card after the final whistle by referee Bobby Madden. Hamilton boss Martin Canning was unhappy after the game with his player’s reaction and speaking ahead of tomorrow night’s visit of Kilmarnock, Bingham said: “Everyone is passionate but as players we’re being watched all the time and we can’t do anything silly.

“It might have been a bit of frustration from Georgios. I know we were frustrated we lost but we need to remain professional. We need all our best players available rather than sitting in the stand suspended.

“But I wouldn’t say there is a disciplinary issue. There might be a bit of focus on the team because of the recent incidents but the way I see it is we’re a team that is together and we fight for each other.

“At times in football there will be heated moments but you need to remain professional. We could see Sarris was a bit aggravated but as teammates we have to calm him down and we did that.

“The Kilmarnock game is huge and the Lanarkshire derby after that so we need everyone available for those matches.”
