Well’s walking wounded believe they

-

THE last time Motherwell went toe to toe with Rangers they were heading for the Betfred Cup Final, leaving the Ibrox club behind to lick their wounds.

This time it’s the un-Well squad limping into the next clash. But keeper Trevor Carson insists they’re still ready for the fight. Chris Cadden and Elliot Frear are almost certainly out of tomorrow’s trip to Ibrox and Carson said: “We are the walking wounded at the moment but we’ll need to pull ourselves together for a massive game coming up.

“I hurt my shoulder at Celtic a few weeks ago and it’s been niggling ever since. My aim is to get through the next couple of games then I can chill out for a few weeks over the winter break.

“But it’s not just me playing through pain. Peter Hartley was cramping up towards the end of the game because he hasn’t really trained for two weeks.

“That says everything you need to know about him as a person. He just got on with it despite barely being able to run at the end. It sums up our character that we just dig in and help each other out.

“With me it’s a nice easy injury where although it’s painful I can still do the job. It would take more than a wee shoulder injury to miss playing at Ibrox and the derby against Hamilton next week.”

That’s fighting talk. Which might come in handy when they face a Rangers side still smarting and possibly eager to make a point after comparing Well to wrestlers following that
