DAVE RENNIE has backed his rookies to shoot down the Gunners in the inter-city revenge showdown.

The Glasgow gaffer has packed his squad with young blood for today’s second festive tussle.

And he is convinced the young brigade can level the 1872 Cup series at Scotstoun.

Coach Rennie has brought in breakaway Matt Fagerson and scrum-half George Horne makes the bench – and expects them to be game-changers.

He said: “Matt has been out injured but he can create a bit of damage and get in behind defences – something we struggled with at Murrayfield.”

On impact sub George Horne, the boss added: “He’s been in great form and is putting pressure on our other No.9s. He’s been sniffing out vital tries.”

Rennie went on: “When you make changes, the new guys are motivated – they want to grab their chance.

“The most disappointing aspect of last week was that Edinburgh outdid us for passion. So we are hurting about that and keen to redeem ourselves.”

Rennie has also recalled playmaker Finn Russell following Peter Horne’s shaky display last weekend.

Meanwhile, Edinburgh coach Richard Cockerill feels the Scotstoun tussle will be the acid test of his side’s ability to compete with the best teams in Europe.

He stated: “Our guys have to back up last week’s result by doing it all over again.

“As far as we are concerned, it was a one-off – unless we produce a proper performance at their place.

“If we are going to push into Europe and play in big competitions then we’re going to have to back it up.

“The challenge has been to make sure we don’t get too excited about winning one game, that’s all it was.

“Glasgow are still a great side and they will be hurting
