ST MIRREN boss Jack Ross insisted Lewis Morgan’s double against Dundee United last night proved the speculation surrounding him is having no effect.

The 21-year-old winger was at his deadly best in the Buddies’ 2-0 triumph over the Tangerines and highlighted why Celtic look set to splash out £500,000 on him next month.

Reports suggest that Morgan will then immediately be loaned back to Saints to spearhead their Championship title push.

And Ross hailed Morgan’s character for keeping his focus.

He said: “He’s been able to deal with the expectation and pressure that has surrounded him as a talented player and I thought tonight would suit him.

“That shows how far he has developed these past 12 months.”

When asked what he knew about his future, Morgan said: “I know no more than you guys.

“There has been a lot written about where I will or won’t be going but, as it stands, I’ll be here for the rest of the season.”

Meanwhile, United boss Csaba Laszlo labelled his side’s secondhalf showing as the worst he has seen since taking charge at Tannadice and insists his players need to be more “dirty”.

He said: “The second half definitely was the worst we have played since I have been here. We need to be more dirty. To be nice is not always enough.”
