RENNIE’S REMEDY

- RODDY DUNCAN sport@dailyrecord.co.uk

ZANDER FAGERSON reckons Glasgow Warriors will soon be back to their best – thanks to the blunt tongue of boss Dave Rennie.

The power-prop revealed that the coach labelled every player “s***” after the derby defeat by Edinburgh.

And the Warriors responded by snuffing out the Gunners in the 1872 Cup second leg at Scotstoun.

Man of the Match Fagerson feels Glasgow are on track to return to peak form.

As he prepared for Saturday’s Pro14 showdown with Zebre in Parma, he said: “After our Christmas break we were given a pretty rough debrief. We were told we were s*** in all areas which wasn’t fun.

“We were asked a few hard questions about where we want to be and how we want to play. That was the beginning of the road back.

“We realised losing at Murrayfield will benefit us in the long run. We got the message that we can’t just rock up and then expect to win.”

Fagerson rubbished the notion that with Glasgow out of quarter-final contention, the remaining Champions Cup pool clashes with Leinster and Exeter Chiefs are rendered meaningless.

He said: “There is still a lot to play for – pride for a start. So we definitely have an exciting few weeks ahead of us.”

Fagerson also aims to show Scotland chiefs he should be in the starting line-up for the Six Nations opener against Wales in Cardiff next month.

He added: “I feel my form has been OK as my niggles are away.”
