DAMIEN HOYLAND is hellbent on proving to Edinburgh bosses he should be a regular wide boy.

The Scotland star has struggled to command a starting place since Richard Cockerill took over but is extra determined to make the most of his chances.

Hoyland was recalled for last week’s 1872 showdown with Glasgow and will discover today if he has done enough to be retained for tomorrow’s home tussle with the Southern Kings.

He said: “I was hugely surprised to get the nod for the Warriors match.

“I’d love to be involved against the Kings in the hope of then being in the picture for the European matches against Stade Francais.” TENNIS Novak Djokovic is set to return to action next week after six months out with an elbow injury and will then decide whether to take part in the Australian Open.

Ahead of the Tournament of Champions in Hawaii, he said: “Tiger is in the best position he has been in a few years to come back and be a regular out here competing.” SNOOKER Scot Stephen Maguire missed out on the Championship League winners’ group after losing 3-2 to Anthony Hamilton.
