- INVERNESS v FALKIRK

ANDREW NELSON is determined to make up for lost time with Falkirk.

This time last year the Sunderland striker was sent on loan to Hartlepool to gain valuable first-team experience.

But Nelson’s move turned sour when he injured his medial knee ligament and the loan was cut short after just four games.

Now the 20-year-old has vowed to make the most of his second crack at first-team football in the Championship with Falkirk after signing a loan deal until the summer with Paul Hartley’s men.

Nelson made an impressive start to his Bairns career as he helped them hammer Dundee United 6-1 last weekend and has promised his manager he’ll do his utmost to fire them up the table.

He said: “The manager is direct and that is something I like. He is not afraid to tell you how it is and what he wants. It has been brilliant.

“Everybody will look at our result at the weekend and ask why are Falkirk down where they are in the table. Hopefully that victory can be the turning point of the season for us and we can kick on.”

John Robertson, however, believes Falkirk’s annihilation of Dundee United could make them vulnerable against Inverness.

The Highlanders manager was impressed by the performance on Saturday but hopes to exploit any over-exuberance from the Bairns.

Robertson said: “We’re looking forward to what will be a really tough game considering Falkirk’s result at the weekend.

“But if they are flying full of confidence they’ll come forward and it means we can get at them.

“We will look forward to playing them and we will be fired up and ready to try to continue our assault for the play-off spots.”
