Iwassold onWigan by Cook’s toptactic
JAMIE WALKER last night revealed he snubbed interest elsewhere to complete his £300,000 move to Wigan.
The 24-year-old right-back signed a two-anda-half-year deal with Paul Cook’s table-topping English League One side.
And Walker – a summer target for Rangers – admitted watching their attacking style of play convinced him he wanted to sign.
He said: “I am grateful for the opportunity and excited by the challenge.
“It has been on the cards for a while but I am delighted to get it over the line.
“I have been at Hearts a long time, it’s a great club with great people and I played a lot of games there.
“I had a few clubs sniffing around but I chose to come here after I saw the facilities and met the manager.
“The style he wants us to play will suit me perfectly.”
Meanwhile, Hearts hitman Kyle Lafferty will make a public appearance in front of the SFA beaks at Hampden today.
The Northern Ireland star is appealing the red card he received during the Jambos’ 0-0 draw with Aberdeen at Pittodrie on December 30.
Lafferty was dismissed by official John Beaton for a late sliding challenge on Dons skipper Graeme Shinnie.
The 30-year-old faces a two-game ban if his appeal is unsuccessful which would rule him out of their Scottish Cup clash with Hibs on January 21 as well as the Premiership match away to Hamilton three days later.
