Scum robs parlour - after getting free ice-cream
A THIEF stole a charity collection tub from a shop – moments after receiving a free ice-cream.
CCTV footage from Miele’s Gelateria show the scumbag lifting the Cash for Kids money.
Staff at the ice-cream parlour had given him a free cone after his bank card was declined.
The ned left the shop, waited until the server had turned her back, then went back in and took the box, which is thought to have contained about £200.
Footage of the brazen theft has been watched more than 100,000 times and shared more than 3000 times on social media.
Michael Miele, 24, who owns the Inverness shop, said: “When he came in, he looked a bit suspicious, a bit dodgy, but we take every customer as they come because you don’t know who people are.
“He has walked around the shop and eyed up the situation and planned it all out and then left the door open.”
In the footage, the unidentified man can be seen behaving nervously before leaving the shop and then returning for the box.
Michael said he was delighted with the response on social media to the footage – with many people offering to donate to the children’s charity.
He added: “It is out there so everybody can see who this guy is and also so that other people and other businesses don’t have the same problem.
“We are delighted with the response that we have seen on Facebook and our social media has been going berserk about it.
“People on there were donating online to Cash for Kids, which is absolutely wonderful.
“It just shows you the community feel that everybody tries to get together when something happens, to make up for this minority.”
A police spokesman said investigations were at an early stage.
The thief struck at about 9.30pm on Saturday. The charity box had been due to be collected on Monday morning.
