Gers star does deal on brawl

RANGERS star Kenny Miller has struck a deal to avoid trial for his part in a brawl after an Old Firm match.

Crown Office officials yesterday said Miller, 38, had accepted a direct measure, which can be a warning, a fine or a work order.

The former Scotland ace will not now have to go to court over the September 2016 incident in Da Luciano’s restaurant in Bothwell, Lanarkshire. Trouble blew up hours after Rangers lost 5-1 to Celtic.

Miller and his wife Laura, 29, both gave evidence at the trial of their friend Billy Steele, who walked free after being cleared of extortion and threats linked to the fracas.

Laura claimed she was left with footprints on her face and scarring after being attacked in the restaurant.

She said it happened after a man told her to “ask Kenny what the score was”.

Laura told the jury she pleaded with her husband to leave the restaurant.

But he preferred to wait for Steele, who was picking them up.

She said: “I was injured, I had a scar on my face, footprints on my face and my leg and my head was cut.”

A Crown Office spokesman said: “After full and careful consideration of all facts and circumstances the case was dealt with by way of an offer of an alternative to prosecution (direct measure).”
