Viewers think the world of Blue Planet II

THE first episode of Blue Planet II was the most watched TV programme of last year.

A chart-topping 14million people saw the opener of David Attenborou­gh’s BBC1 marine life series.

The Strictly Come Dancing final was runner-up, with 13million people tuning in.

ITV’s I’m a Celebrity was third, with an audience of 12.7million for its launch episode.

In 2016, the top spot went to The Great British Bake Off final on BBC1, with almost 16million viewers.

Last year, the final of the cooking contest, now on Channel 4, was watched by 10million people.

The final episode of ITV’s Broadchurc­h was watched by 11.6million – the biggest audience for any TV drama last year.
