Plea to bus firm to axe price hikes
BUS firm First Glasgow have been urged to scrap price hikes of up to 40 per cent.
MPs have called on managing director Andrew Jarvis to rethink the plan.
They said the rises, along with the closure of job centres across the city, will mean more journeys and more cash outlay for unemployed people.
The seven Glasgow MPs have signed a letter to Jarvis about the price rises.
An early day motion being published at Westminster today also condemns the increases.
First Glasgow said daily and weekly tickets for children and family tickets have been frozen or reduced.
Youths jobs boost
A target to cut youth unemployment in Scotland by 40 per cent to below 31,000 was met last year – four years ahead of schedule, a report has revealed.
