Leave old oil platforms at sea - expert

DISUSED North Sea oil platforms should be left in position, an industry expert has advised.

Tom Baxter, of Aberdeen University, said it would be better value for taxpayers’ money and do less harm to the environment.

He said: “It may be much more beneficial for the environment, society and the economy if … the money saved was directed into green energy and emissions reduction.”
