TELL your husband. You don’t have to go into detail if you don’t want to, but say that it makes you uncomfortable and you’d rather just the two of you went on holiday. If you insist you’re not going, there’s not much he can do about it – he can’t make you go on holiday and enjoy yourself.

Point out that even if you did go, you wouldn’t enjoy it and that would have an impact on him and on your relationship because you’d end up resenting him for it.

Most people past a certain age don’t holiday with their parents but if it’s that important to him, then suggest he goes away with his mum and dad, and you’ll plan to take a trip with your friends.

Really, though, he should be listening to you and taking you seriously, and he should want to spend the holiday with you instead of his parents.
