Coetzer is a big loss to the Scots

- UPDATE

SCOTLAND have been dealt a blow as skipper Kyle Coetzer has been ruled out of next week’s doubleheader against Ireland.

Coetzer, who recently rose to 23rd in the world ODI rankings, misses out as he is sitting his final level four coaching exams.

He will join the squad in Dubai in time for the second half of the Tri-Series which sees the Scots take on UAE in two further matches. CYCLING: French cyclist Robert Marchand is retiring – at the age of 106.

The decision to quit comes a year after Marchand completed 14.08 miles in just one hour on an indoor track.

He has been in the saddle for well over 90 years. GOLF: Open champion Jordan Spieth wants to get a 12th PGA Tour title under his belt before aiming for more Major glory.

Spieth’s victory at Royal Birkdale last year leaves him needing just the US PGA crown to join Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, and Tiger Woods in completing a career Grand Slam.

The 24-year-old said: “I’m not thinking about the Masters yet. There are goals within each section of the season and in this section it’s to try to win one of my next four or five events.”
