ROSS CROCK SHOCK

- SCOTT McDERMOTT

ROSS McCRORIE is out of Rangers’ Florida Cup matches after injuring his foot at their winter training camp.

Light Blues boss Graeme Murty has confirmed the 19-year-old suffered a recurrence of a foot problem caused by colliding with advertising boards in last

From Back Page month’s win over Ross County. Although McCrorie has played five games since then it’s believed he’s damaged it again at the IMG training complex in Orlando this week.

He’ll now miss the games against Atletico Mineiro and Corinthians in the coming days as Gers gear up for the second half of the season.

But the defender and Rangers will hope he’s fit for their next competitive match – a Scottish Cup tie against Fraserburgh on January 21.

Murty is also concerned Ryan Jack hasn’t recovered as quickly as expected from a knee problem.

He said: “Ryan’s had, not a recurrence but hasn’t progressed as far with his knee injury from the Motherwell game as we had hoped.

“And Ross has had a recurrence of his foot injury that he sustained when he clattered into the advertising boards.

“Those are two historical ones we’re taking our time with. We want to make sure we don’t push them too hard and give them longerterm problems.”

Meanwhile ex-Hibs and Rangers midfielder Kevin Thomson has revealed his delight at being back at the Ibrox club as Under-13s coach.

Thomson will continue to run his own academy while helping to develop the Light Blues’ next galaxy of stars.

He said: “I met Craig Mulholland on Sunday and we’d a good chat regarding a role back at the club and it never really took much thought from me.

“I’ve worked really hard and my academy will never be as big as Rangers.

“I would hate to give that up. I said that to Craig and he was so accommodating.”
