MMA star Conor McGregor has taken a battering from fans for posing for pictures with Tory peer Michelle Mone.

The fighter was pictured with the Scottish bra tycoon at a business summit.

Irishman McGregor, 29, shared one of the snaps on his Twitter and Instagram accounts, with the caption: “With the Baroness Lady Mone of Mayfair”.

Mone, 46, posted another snap of the pair, writing: “Totally love this guy”.

McGregor fans posted hundreds of messages blasting the former plumber for mingling with Mone.

Scott Chizzy wrote: “Awww Conor, I’ve been a fan for ages but hanging with that Tory-loving turncoat seriously dents your street cred, man. Think smart, champ!”

McGregor’s Instagram follower Kammy.d wrote: “This ‘working class gal’ voted to cut benefits for the poor.”

Mrskcshaw said: “Voted to cut benefits from the most poor in society! Dislike!”

Referring to UFC fighter TJ Dillashaw, who McGregor previously branded a “snake”, Craig Gillies wrote: “More of a snake than TJ. You’ve let yourself down here, champ.”

And Declan Doyle added: “I love Conor McGregor as much as the next guy but hanging about with Michelle Mone?”

Some social media users did leave positive messages on Mone and McGregor’s pages and praised the Scot for the presentation she gave at the business summit in Dublin.

Karl Daly wrote: “You were class today, Michelle. Presentation of the day for me.”

Darren Boyd said: “Super speech today! Thank you.”

Mone, a previously long-standing Labour Party supporter like her family, withdrew her support for them in 2009 after pledging to leave the UK if then prime minister Gordon Brown increased the top income tax rate to 50 per cent.

She said she was “disgusted by the Government’s inept handling of the economic crisis”.

In August 2015, Downing Street announced that under the then work and pensions secretary Iain Duncan Smith, Mone would lead a review into entrepreneurship, mainly focusing on setting up small businesses in deprived areas.

That month, the then Tory prime minister David Cameron announced Mone was being made a life peer.

She was introduced in the Lords that September and voted in favour of cuts to working tax credits.

Later, Mone said: “I was like a rabbit in the headlights and would have liked to have been there for the first and second reading.

“But I have learned so much from it now.

“My very first day in the House of Lords was, dring, dring, dring, you have to go through and vote and I’m like, what do you mean? What’s going on?”
