A GALLUS gull raided a Greggs to steal a packet of crisps – then took them outside to share with a friend.

The brazen bird wandered into the bakers in Ayr High Street through an open door and chose a packet of Walkers’ salt and vinegar before legging it.

Caitlin Hamilton caught the action on her phone during a break from work.

She posted the foursecond video, with the caption: “Ayr’s got the hardest seagulls” online, where it was viewed 182,000 times in a day.

Caitlin, 21, from Ayr, said: “I was just sitting minding my own business when I looked at the door and the seagull just walked in, looked at the crisps then pinched them and ran out the store.

“He even shared them with his wee pal outside. It honestly had me in stitches, especially as I was having a bad day.”

She added: “This is his third time. You’d think they’d put the crisps up higher.”

Twitter users shared it widely.

Patrick McDonough joked: “Did he come back for the rest of the meal deal?”

Deyzah noted: “Terrible choice of flavour though.”

John Spence added: “Greggs getting robbed again.”

Chrispurs commented: “Salt and vinegar, let’s see how hard he is eating them.”

Alan Johnson added: “You should see the b ****** s in Dundee.”

The raid is part of a gull crime wave targeting the Newcastlebased baking giants.

In June 2016, a similar swoop was carried out at a Greggs in South Shields, Tyneside.

A video showed a gull as it marched in, walked to the crisps, plucked out a packet and scarpered, flapping its wings to get the automatic door to open.

It happened again at the same branch in October last year. Again, it was caught on film.

That offender was described as “white, of short stature and with a distinctive patch on its back”.

A bird nicknamed Steven Seagull has been terrorising a Greggs in Arbroath.

The scavenger swoops down on the bakery up to 10 times a day, for its breakfast, lunch and dinner plus snacks.

However, staff have vowed they will “never call the police on him” as it is the store’s “most loyal regular”.
