Hearts poised to move for Naismith

-

From Back Page is desperate to bring the ex-Ibrox forward to Tynecastle and reunite him with his former Rangers and Norwich team-mate Kyle Lafferty.

Rangers are thought to still be considering a move for Naismith who is believed to have informed them that he would be prepared to play for free at his old club for the rest of the season.

Levein is aware of that and is keen to move quickly to get his man. He is also understood to be close to meeting Norwich’s valuation of the 45-times capped former Scotland international.

Naismith made the move to Carrow Road as the club’s record signing in an £8.5million deal from Everton two years ago. He had joined the Goodison club from Rangers in 2012.

However, after failing to gain promotion back to the Premier League last season, the Canaries are keen to reduce their wage bill.

With Naismith currently one of their biggest earners, he is expected to move on this month in a cut-price deal.

The striker has played just three times for the top team this term, with the last of those appearances coming in a 4-1 win over Charlton almost five months ago.

Although he has also been plagued by injury since then, Naismith is not thought to be in manager Daniel Farke’s plans and the East Anglia side will not be difficult to deal with.
